Turkmenistan and Iran open all border crossings

The statement was made by Javad Hedayati, director-general of Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization.

On October 17 in an interview to ISNA, Director-general of Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, Javad Hedayati, said that Turkmenistan and Iran have partially opened all border crossings. He expressed hope for an early solution of all trade issues between the states.

The official noted that the relevant checkpoints have been reopened with some restrictions, and are mainly used for the transit trade. The last opened checkpoint Bajgiran is used for the commute of diplomats.

The civil servant recalled that recently the authorities of Turkmenistan and Iran have reopened the Inche Borron border crossing. At the moment, trucks transporting Iranian goods may cross the relevant territory.

According to Hedayati, earlier, due to a number of restrictions, all transit and land trade between the countries was realized through the Sarakhs and Lotfabad checkpoints. The official expressed the hope that the opening of all land borders between the countries will solve the problems of truckers who transport Iranian products to Turkmenistan.
