Japarov speaks about ongoing steps to develop Kyrgyzstan’s power system

The President of Kyrgyzstan took part in the ceremony of putting into operation the Sokuluk HPP-2 in Chui Region.

On October 14, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov visited Chui Region, where he took part in the ceremony of putting into operation the Sokuluk HPP-2. In his speech, Japarov highlighted the importance of developing the power sector in the country, noting that this industry was a major aspect of his policy, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The President said he had thoroughly reviewed the situation and difficulties in Kyrgyzstan’s power system and set the goal to develop and attract investments in this sector, which was of particular importance for the development of the country.

Japarov expressed belief that the measures taken to achieve stability and remove bureaucratic barriers in the power sector would give a steady impetus to promote green energy and increase additional generating capacity.

The President informed that the project was being developed and the construction of a small hydroelectric power station was starting on the Orto-Tokoy reservoir in Issyk-Kul Region. The construction of the Kara-Kul hydroelectric power station in Jalal-Abad Region will begin soon. These projects are being implemented through public-private partnership.
