Kazakhstan and Mongolia aim to expand cooperation

Trade and economic interaction and the transport sector will be strategic vectors.

On October 13, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Batmunkh Battsetseg, who arrived in the Republic for an official visit. The interlocutors discussed the intensification of Kazakhstan-Mongolia practical cooperation, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

The President said Mongolia was a reliable strategic partner of Kazakhstan, noting that the two countries shared a common history.

Tokayev stressed that in general, citizens of Kazakhstan had a warm attitude towards the Mongolian people. He noted that Mongolia had consistently demonstrated an understanding and support for Kazakhstan’s initiatives at international platforms, and this cooperation should be intensified and be more fruitful within trade and economic interaction. In this context, the President focused on promoting partnerships in the transport and logistics sector.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev expressed paternal gratitude to Mongolia for showing the benevolence and concern for ethnic Kazakhs and creating conditions for them to preserve their native language, culture and traditions.

The guest of Akorda thanked the President for taking the time and conveyed the wishes of every success and prosperity from President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh. The diplomat noted that the two countries were direct neighbours due to the geography, which made Mongolia view the promotion of relations with Kazakhstan as a key priority of the foreign policy strategy.
