Kyrgyzstan to promote military defence cooperation with India

During the meeting, the President of Kyrgyzstan noted that trade turnover between the countries had significantly increased in recent years.

On October 11, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov met with External Affairs Minister of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who arrived in Bishkek for an official visit. The interlocutors discussed the prospects for promoting bilateral cooperation in various spheres, particularly military defence cooperation, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Japarov said Kyrgyzstan was interested in promoting cooperation with India to attract direct investments in the energy, processing, agricultural, medicine and tourism sectors.

The President also touched upon security and military cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and India and expressed the desire of the Kyrgyz side to further promote and strengthen military defence cooperation.

The External Affairs Minister of India highlighted the determination to intensify and develop bilateral cooperation and the readiness to pay attention to investment projects in the spheres of digitalization, healthcare and tourism.

The External Affairs Minister of India invited Japarov to visit Delhi at any convenient time.
