Mirziyoyev outlines investment projects worth $6.6 billion for 5 years

It is planned to declare 2022-2026 in Surkhandarya as the 5th anniversary of clean water supply and build 1,700 water supply networks.

On October 8, a presidential candidate from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with voters in Surkhandarya Region. It is planned to declare 2022-2026 in Surkhandarya as the 5th anniversary of clean water supply and build 1,700 water supply networks, part of which will be a main water supply network with a length of 361 km from the Topalang water storage reservoir to Termez, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

The President plans to implement 10 mega-projects that will boost the economic development of the region, use the investments amounted to $5.1 billion within the projects and create 22,000 new jobs. In total, it is planned to implement more than 5,000 investment projects worth $6.6 billion over the next 5 years.

In recent years, the export of fruits and vegetables from the region has doubled and reached $100 million. The President emphasised that this number could be more than $500 million once the potential of Surkhandarya Region was used in full.

“Over the next 5 years, we will put all the reforms in our country, including in Surkhandarya region, on the basis of a completely new system “person - society – state”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
