Tajikistan presents water initiatives at EXPO 2020

The Tajikistan Pavilion showcases the harmony of man and nature through one of the main sources of life.

Representatives of Tajikistan opened a pavilion at World Expo 2020. The exhibition illustrates the unique history and culture of the Tajik people and numerous water initiatives put forward by Tajikistan within the United Nations, the Khovar News Agency reported on October 2.

World Expo 2020 is taking place between October 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022. The event was originally supposed to start last year, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The main theme of the Tajikistan Pavilion is Water for Sustainable Development. The Central Asian state is actively promoting water conservation and drinking water supply programmes within the UN.

These include the proclamation of 2003 as the International Year of Freshwater, the International Freshwater Forum in Dushanbe in the same year, the proclamation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Life” in 2005-2015 and 2018-2028 and the international conferences on water cooperation and drinking water issues in the capital of Tajikistan.
