Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds talks with World Bank Vice President

On September 30, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with World Bank Vice President Anna Bjerde, who was visiting the Republic within the Tashkent Economic Forum project. It was noted that the current portfolio included 26 World Bank-financed projects worth US$ 4.8 billion, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

The interlocutors noted that the joint roadmap had been adopted and was being implemented successfully, and the working groups had been set up in the core areas of cooperation. Concessional loans amounted to US$ 540 million were approved for the implementation of the projects aimed at developing midsize cities, modernizing the electricity sector and improving tax administration.

The results of joint work to develop the methodology for assessing the poverty-reducing impacts, support investment projects of the private sector, reform state-owned enterprises and promote solar energy in Uzbekistan were discussed.

The World Bank Vice President highly evaluated the ongoing reforms in new Uzbekistan, which, in her opinion, had become irreversible. She said the World Bank was ready to provide increased support for the reforms aimed at improving the indicator and quality of life of citizens of the Republic.
