Uzbekistan discusses draft Free Trade Agreement with South Korea

The parties considered the prospects for lowering tariff barriers on certain goods.

On September 24, Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov held online negotiations on the draft Free Trade Agreement between Uzbekistan and South Korea with Director General for Free Trade Agreements Negotiations of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Yang Gi-Wook. The parties considered the possibility of lowering tariff barriers on certain goods, the press office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade reported to CentralAsia.news.

The high-ranking officials noted with satisfaction the dynamic growth of bilateral relations in this sphere. They also emphasised the great progress in finalising the draft Agreement following the results of the first round of negotiations, which were held in April this year. The professional activities of the experts of the two states were commended.

In conclusion, the interlocutors agreed to intensify negotiations to achieve practical results in the near future. They set a timetable of planned negotiations and activities for October and November this year.
