Turkmenistan gives citizenship to 2657 people

It was done as part of the decree of President Berdimuhamedov. 406 people received a residence permit.

On September 24, at the building of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, a ceremony of giving passports to persons who were accepted in the citizenship of the country was held. In total, the relevant documents were issued to 2,657 people. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan Today».

The process was implemented by decree of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Under another resolution, 406 people received a residence permit in Turkmenistan.

The relevant citizenship was given to the representatives of 20 nationalities. Most of the corresponding persons are Uzbeks (1775 people). Among them there are also Kazakhs, Azerbaijanis, Russians, Ukrainians, Armenians, Koreans, Iranians, Turks and others. More than half of the new citizens are women, 512 people are persons under 18 years of age.

They lived and worked in the territory of Turkmenistan for several years. The authorities of the country let them do it within humane considerations.

Representatives of 18 nationalities received a residence permit of the state. They have citizenship of the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the Azerbaijan Republic, Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Most of these persons are women (326).

According to the UN Conventions and the national legal framework, 14,980 people have become citizens of Turkmenistan since 2011.
