Korea is interested in wider cooperation with Turkmenistan

The statement was made by Lee Ok Ryong, the president of the Korea-Central Asia Friendship Association.

On September 24, Lee Ok Ryong, President of the Korea-Central Asia Friendship Association, in an interview to the «Neutral Turkmenistan» newspaper said that Korea has been showing wide interest in the Central Asian country lately. She noted that she is proud of the development of Turkmenistan.

Ryong stressed that the peoples of Korea and Turkmenistan are historically close. Around the 6th and 7th centuries, Koreans worked closely with the ancestors of the Turkmen people. According to her, the country has rich natural resources and high potential in all aspects.

She drew attention to the fact that Seoul hopes for an active business partnership with Ashgabat, taking into account mutually beneficial economic projects, such as prevention of desertification, renewable energy, gardening with smart farms.

The head of the association commended the election of Turkmenistan to the Executive Committee of UN-Women for 2022-2024 and the implementation of the state action plan for gender equality for 2021-2025.

— I really miss beautiful city Ashgabat and the hospitable Turkmen people, and I look forward to the stabilization of the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic so that we can meet again on the friendly Turkmen land, — said Lee Ok Ryong.
