Tajikistan discusses security in Afghanistan with Hungary and United States

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan held a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

On September 22, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojidin Mukhriddin met with Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Russia and Central Asia at the National Security Council Eric Green on the sidelines of the 76th UN General Assembly in New York, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

The representatives of Tajikistan and the United States focused on the instability in Afghanistan. The parties exchanged views on the ongoing events in Afghanistan after the transfer of power.

Mukhriddin and Green considered the prospects for cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States.

Earlier, the representatives of the Central Asia states and the United States discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, as well as the environmental agenda.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs had a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Siarto, with whom he also discussed Afghan issues.

The parties discussed the issues and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.

General debates and meetings involving heads of state and government are taking place in New York from 21 to 27 September.
