Tokayev holds first meeting with new President of Iran

The leaders of the two states expressed interest in building up cooperation in the transport, logistics, agro-industrial and investment sectors.

On September 17, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev had a meeting with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi. Tokayev congratulated Raisi on his victory in the presidential election and highly evaluated the current rhythm of bilateral cooperation, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Noting that this was his first meeting with the newly elected leader of Iran, the President of Kazakhstan expressed belief that their meeting would speed up constructive interaction between the countries. Tokayev said Iran was a sympathetic neighbour of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Caspian Sea region and a close partner in the Islamic world.

The IRI President expressed gratitude to the interlocutor for his good wishes, as well as the participation of the Kazakhstan delegation in his inauguration. Raisi confirmed the inviolability of bridges of all-round cooperation, noting that his country was ready to discuss the prospects for expanding bilateral contacts.

In this context, the emphasis was placed on positive trends in bilateral trade turnover and the need to expand it. Special priority was given to deepening relations in the transport and logistics sectors, agricultural production and investment integration.

In conclusion, the leaders of the two states noted the expediency of exchanging visits in the near future.
