The President noted that Kyrgyzstan stood for achieving speedy stabilization of the political situation in Afghanistan.
On September 17, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov addressed the 20th anniversary meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State during his working visit to Dushanbe, where he touched upon the Afghan issue of shared concern, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Japarov noted that the measures to respond to threats and external challenges needed to be taken given the recent events in Afghanistan.
He suggested adopting comprehensive measures to prevent encroachments on the SCO Member States and the region as a whole. He emphasised that Kyrgyzstan stood for ceasing a military conflict and achieving peace, cohesion and stability in Afghanistan in the interests of the long-suffering Afghan people, as well as the countries of the region and the international community.
Japarov highlighted the need to conduct a dialogue with the new Afghan government about possible options for cooperation on various issues to achieve speedy stabilization of the political situation in Afghanistan.
The leader of Kyrgyzstan expressed readiness to send humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
