Berdimuhamedov meets with President of Tajikistan in Dushanbe

The leader of Turkmenistan paid a working visit to take part in the summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State.

On September 17, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid a working visit to Dushanbe, where he will take part in the summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State as an honorary guest. Within the trip, he met with the leader of the republic, Emomali Rahmon. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Tajik president.

Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda met Berdimuhamedov at the airport. During negotiations with Rahmon, the President noted the importance of developing interstate relations in the industrial, agricultural and transport sectors. Particular attention was paid to using the capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport for the transportation of goods to Tajikistan.

The presidents also discussed the military and political situation in Afghanistan. They agreed that the situation in the Islamic republic should be settled by peaceful methods only.

On September 16, at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in Ashgabat, the leader of Turkmenistan noted that a solid package of documents signed within the framework of Rahmon’s visit to Ashgabat in early August will expand cooperation between the Central Asian countries.
