Uzbekistan sends humanitarian cargo to Afghanistan in token of good neighbourliness

The humanitarian cargo included flour, foodstuffs, essential goods, medicines, clothes and footwear.

On September 14, humanitarian aid was delivered to Hairatan in Afghanistan on behalf of the leadership and friendly people of Uzbekistan in token of friendship and good neighbourliness in accordance with the Order of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The humanitarian cargo included flour, food products, essential goods, medicines, clothes and footwear, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

During the solemn handover ceremony, an official representative of the IRA interim government Zabihullah Mujahid sincerely thanked Mirziyoyev on behalf of the people of Afghanistan and on his own behalf for providing timely assistance, support and solidarity in such difficult times for the country.

Governor of Hairatan Balkh Kudratillo Abu Hamza emphasised that the cargo had been delivered in advance and during a period of high demand. This sign of friendship from the Uzbek side is another vivid example of the historical, cultural and spiritual ties between the two peoples, which go back centuries. The Afghan politician also noted that this assistance would help overcome the impact of the pandemic, as well as avoid a possible humanitarian and food crisis in Afghanistan.
