Tajik Foreign Ministry sends note of protest over Biden’s words to US Ambassador

The note of protest was sent in response to the statement about the similar wish of Tajiks and Afghans to flee their home country.

On September 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan handed a note of protest to US Ambassador John Mark Pommersheim over the recent statement by US President Joe Biden regarding the situation at the Kabul airport, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

The US Ambassador was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The document says Biden’s statement about Tajikistan, made during his visit to a fire station in Pennsylvania, is contrary to the spirit of friendly relations between the two states.

The note says Dushanbe seeks to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Washington in various areas and expects mutual respect.

As was reported, Biden said Tajiks, like citizens of Afghanistan, if there was an opportunity and a US military vehicle departing from the Tajik airport and ready to take on board everyone, would also be hanging in the chassis niche, trying to flee their home country.
