Tokayev asks Chairman of National Bank about inflation risks

The Chairman of the National Bank reported that an anti-inflation plan had been endorsed with the Cabinet of Ministers.

On September 10, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting with Chairman of the National Bank Yerbolat Dossaev. The meeting focused on the implementation of monetary policy and the existing inflation risks against the backdrop of the global economic recovery, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

The Chairman of the National Bank reported that the inflation response approaches and the main areas of their implementation had been endorsed with the Cabinet of Ministers. Dossaev also presented the updates of inflation forecasts for 2021.

Dossaev said economic activity continued to grow in the Republic, which stimulated an increase in consumption and income of the population. He also reported on the progress in implementing the President’s anti-crisis initiatives.

According to global indicators, the preliminary indicators of gross international reserves of Kazakhstan increased to US$ 93.7 billion, and investment income of the National Fund grew to US$ 2.3 billion.

During the meeting, Tokayev set the tasks of mitigating non-monetary inflation factors and ensuring financial stability.
