Uzbekistan and Bangladesh agree to implement investment projects

A bilateral forum focusing on the mechanisms for enhancing investment, trade and economic partnerships took place in Tashkent.

On September 6, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Adviser to Prime Minister of Bangladesh Salman Fazlur Rahman chaired a bilateral business forum. The key themes under discussion included the mechanisms for enhancing investment, trade and economic partnerships and other important issues, the press office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade reported to CentralAsia.news.

The parties noted great prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the agricultural, textile, leather and footwear and pharmaceutical industries, as well as education and tourism. The businessmen focused on boosting partnerships in the industrial sector as well. In this regard, the forum participants agreed to develop a joint roadmap.

The heads of the departments and sectoral organisations of Uzbekistan made presentations on the investment and industrial potential of each sector. The opportunities for the implementation of high-tech projects by adopting advanced practices and technologies of Bangladeshi manufacturers were also considered.

The parties agreed to implement a number of joint investment projects in Uzbekistan’s IT, textile and pharmaceutical industries. It is expected that the negotiations on the projects discussed at the forum will be held and the projects will be launched by the end of the year.
