Kyrgyzstan hosts CSTO military exercise of Central Asian states

As reported, the military exercise will take place against the backdrop of the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan.

On September 3, the Ministry of Defence of Kyrgyzstan informed that an operational training, involving the command bodies of the collective rapid deployment forces of the Central Asian Region of the CSTO (CAR CRDF), was held on the Edelweiss training ground in Issyk-Kul Region against the backdrop of the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan, the press office of the Ministry of Defence of Kyrgyzstan reports.

One of the aims of the operational training is to prepare for the Rubezh-2021 military exercise that the CSTO will hold in Kyrgyzstan on September 7-9.

According to the report, about 300 Russian military servants and more than 60 machines from the mountain motorized rifle brigade from Tuva have been deployed to Kyrgyzstan for the upcoming military exercise.

The topic of the military exercise: “Preparation and conduct of military actions by the CAR CRDF to eliminate illegal armed formations that have entered into the territory of a CSTO member state.”

As reported, the military contingents and task forces from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and the CSTO United Staff and Secretariat will take part in the military exercise.
