Uzbekistan and IsDB discuss investment cooperation

The current state of partnerships, the progress in the implementation of joint projects, as well as the prospects for promoting Uzbekistan-IsDB cooperation were discussed.

On August 30, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held talks with President of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad Sulaiman Al-Jasser. The interlocutors discussed the current state of partnerships, the progress in the implementation of joint projects, as well as the prospects for promoting Uzbekistan-IsDB cooperation, the press office of the MIFT reports.

They reached an agreement to intensify efforts to coordinate 6 new investment projects aimed at supporting small and medium-sized businesses, education, infrastructure construction, healthcare and improving the quality of life in rural areas.

The readiness of the IsDB and its institutions, including the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector, the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation and the Islamic Corporation for Insurance of Investments and Export Credits, was discussed. The readiness to boost mutually beneficial partnerships through broadening the portfolio of joint projects aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship and increasing employment opportunities and social support in Uzbekistan was expressed.

The interlocutors considered the progress of preparations for the Annual Meeting of the IsDB Board of Governors, which would be held in Tashkent on September 1-4, 2021.
