The leader of Tajikistan had told him that the border with Afghanistan was under strong pressure, the President of France said.
On August 27, President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron revealed the details of his telephone conversation with the leader of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche. He said the Tajik-Afghan border was under strong pressure.
The President of France noted that the leader of Tajikistan personally told him about it. Macron emphasised that Rahmon had raised this issue while discussing the problems of Afghan refugees. The parties agreed to solve the migration issue in a humane, transparent and responsible way.
Macron and Rahmon highlighted the importance of developing a new format of interstate interaction to address the problems on the Tajik-Afghan border during a telephone conversation on August 25, the Office of the President of France reported.
Particular attention was paid to the consequences of the seizure of power in Afghanistan by the Taliban (a terrorist organisation banned in Russia). Macron invited Rahmon to pay an official visit to Paris.
On August 16, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said Tajikistan was keeping the situation on the border with the IRA under control.
