Uzbekistan and UAE consider prospects for investment cooperation

The interlocutors noted the significant progress in developing a portfolio of joint investment projects. Today, 15 projects worth US$ 5 billion are being implemented.

On August 25, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri held talks in Tashkent. The interlocutors noted the significant progress in developing a portfolio of joint investment projects. Today, 15 projects worth US$ 5 billion are being implemented, the press office of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade reports.

They also noted the significant untapped potential in the agriculture, mining, textile and jewellery industries. The proposals on the involvement of UAE investors in the state privatization programme in Uzbekistan were put forward.

The emphasis was placed on the successful activities of the Uzbekistan-UAE Investment Company, created with the assistance of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. Since its creation, the Company has attracted about US$ 100 million in joint investment projects in Uzbekistan. The UAE side expressed readiness to provide support in attracting new potential partners from among UAE investors to implement promising projects co-funded by the Uzbekistan-UAE Investment Company.
