Uzbekistan approves domestic development of Sputnik V vaccine

The decision of the Ministry of Health and the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry on state registration of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine   and the Chinese ZF-UZ-VAC2001 vaccine was supported.

On August 20, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov signed the Decree supporting the decision of the Ministry of Health and the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan on state registration of the locally produced Russian Sputnik V vaccine and the Chinese serum Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical, known in the country as ZF-UZ-VAC2001.

“To accept the proposals of the Ministry of Health and the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry on state registration of the ZF-UZ-VAC2001 and Sputnik V vaccines produced by Jurabek Laboratories,” the Decree says.

Russia and China will provide the materials for vaccine development at the first stage.

In accordance with the Decree, the State Unitary Enterprise “State Centre for Expertise and Standardization of Medicines, Medical Products and Medical Equipment” is to check laboratory test results and registration documents of the vaccines produced by Jurabek Laboratories within 5 days.

In Uzbekistan, the vaccination campaign started in April 2021. Russian Sputnik V, British-Swedish AstraZeneca and ZF-UZ-VAC2001 vaccines are used during the vaccination campaign.
