Rahmon emphasised that the monetary losses were linked to the failure to comply with the format of cashless payments.
On August 20, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with the financial officials at the opening ceremony of the new building of the Ministry of Finance. Touching upon the issues relating to corruption at the Ministry in his speech, he pointed out one of the factors behind theft, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.
He said one of the major causes of the monetary losses at the Ministry was low levels of cashless payments, underlining the failure to meet the relevant requirements in accordance with the existing legal acts.
Rahmon emphasised that cash usage to pay fees, customs duties and make other payments had been growing in recent years, which led to abuses and misappropriation of budget funds.
The President said the inspections performed at the Ministry of Finance and 7 subdivisions in 2020 had revealed the monetary losses amounted to 5.2 million somoni (about US$ 455,600), which was a major concern for him.
The President instructed that the Ministry speed up digital transformations in the financial system.
