The emphasis was placed on the need to expedite ‘green’ project funding and implementation in the EAEU.

On August 20, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin chaired a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (EAIC). Exchanging views, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan put forward a number of proposals for the economic development of the EAEU platform. Kyrgyzstan hosted the forum on the shores of the Issyk-Kul Lake, the press office of the Prime Minister reported.

The heads of governments of Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Uzbekistan attended the meeting. Mamin highlighted the importance of taking further joint steps to speed up the food conveyor. He called on to build up the capacity of the EAEU to produce and export agricultural products and create sources of finance for this sector.

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan highlighted the need to expedite the dialogue on the promotion and subsidies of ‘green’ projects in the EAEU together with major economic institutions.

Mamin mentioned tourism promotion among key priorities. In this regard, he proposed to facilitate mutual access to common platforms, simplify the recognition of vaccination passports and set up joint tourist centres with optimal quarantine requirements.

At the suggestion of Kazakhstan, the participants agreed to create a regional accreditation and conformity assessment organisation. This step should help to consolidate the activities of national authorities, save time and money and remove technical barriers to trade.
