Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Russia have fruitful meeting at Astana IFC

Nur-Sultan and Moscow have integrated a package of documents aimed at advancing in the critical areas of bilateral relations.

On August 18, Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Russia Askar Mamin and Mikhail Mishustin held talks at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) in Nur-Sultan. They discussed the further expansion of cooperation in the spheres of economy, industrial cooperation, energy and transport and interaction on the EAEU platform, the press office of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.

The interlocutors noted that Russia was a key trade and economic ally of Kazakhstan. Current indicators state that the trade and economic generation between the two countries is recovering progressively and resolutely. Since the beginning of 2021, bilateral trade has amounted to almost US$ 11 billion. The bilateral trade turnover is expected to exceed US$23 billion by the end of the year.

The outcomes of the talks proved very fruitful; the parties signed a number of important documents, including the intergovernmental agreement on business activity on the border gold and copper mines, located on the East Tarutinskoye (Kazakhstan) and Tarutinskoye (Russia) deposits.

A memorandum on cooperation between the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the AIFC and the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology and a memorandum on partnerships between the railway organisations on joint transportation of agro-industrial goods were signed in the presence of the Prime Ministers. The action plan between the AIFC and the Republic of Tatarstan was approved and other agreements were endorsed.
