Prime Minister of Japan congratulates Turkmenistan on first Olympic medal

Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga has sent a letter to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The head of the government congratulated the leader of the state on the first Olympic medal in the history of the Central Asian country. It was reported by «Turkmenistan today» on August 15.

Suga stressed that he received Berdimuhamedov’s message from the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who has been in Tokyo within participation in the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games. The Japanese official thanked the president for such attention.

He highlighted the performance of athlete Polina Guryyeva, who won the first Olympic medal in the modern history of Turkmenistan.

In the letter, the Prime Minister of Japan congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedov on assuming the office of co-chairman of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Japanese committee for economic cooperation, and also stressed the importance of completing the construction of a gas turbine power plant in the Charjou etrap, Lebap province.

It should be mentioned that Guryyeva competed in the 59-kg weightlifting category. She has won a silver medal. The Olympic gold has been won by Taiwanese weightlifter Kuo Xingchun.
