Russia donates 50,000 Sputnik V vaccine doses to Tajikistan

Humanitarian assistance was provided within bilateral cooperation between the countries.

On August 13, a special aircraft of the Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief of the Russian Federation brought a humanitarian cargo with 50,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine to the capital of Tajikistan. The vaccines will be stored in special warehouses, the press office of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.

Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of Tajikistan Gafur Mukhsinzoda, a representative of the RF Embassy to Tajikistan and a number of other officials received the humanitarian cargo.

According to the government officials of Tajikistan, the vaccine doses will be stored in accordance with the requirements, and they will be distributed in accordance with the list. The Ministry of Health said citizens of Tajikistan were grateful to the Government for the timely provision of a vaccine against coronavirus.

At the moment, it is not known where the Russian vaccine can be received. Currently, citizens of Tajikistan can get a free vaccination with the Anglo-Swedish AstraZeneca, the Chinese CoronaVac and the American Moderna. As of August 12, more than 1.5 million people have been vaccinated in Tajikistan.
