WHO delivers coronavirus detection devices to Turkmenistan

Two Rotor-Gene devices for real-time PCR tests have arrived in the country.

On July 29, the World Health Organization delivered new laboratory equipment for the detection and testing of coronavirus infection to Turkmenistan. The devices will be installed in regional laboratories of the Ministry of Health and Medical Indsutry. It was reported by the WHO press office on August 13.

Virus detection kits and two Rotor-Gene devices, used for real-time PCR tests, were delivered to Ashgabat. Representatives of the World Health Organization said that the devices and reagents will be sent to the laboratories of the Ministry of Health, located in various provinces.

WHO employees added that in 2020-2021 UN agencies and several other international organizations bought and sent to Turkmenistan supplies and equipment for preventing coronavirus in the country. The cargo accounted for a total value of 2.8 million dollars.

It must be added that Ashgabat will receive a 20 million loan from the World Bank as part of the COVID-19 Response Project.
