On August 9, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the progress of preparations for a meeting with domestic entrepreneurs. To date, over 13,500 proposals and petitions have been received from businessmen, which are considered by the Republican Task Force on a daily basis, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The size of the loans granted in the first seven months of 2021 increased by 35% compared to the same period of 2020 and amounted to 92 trillion soums. However, judging by the petitions, the top challenges for businesses are interest rates and short terms of loans. Bank loans account for 42% of petitions.
The participants considered the issues related to access to land and buildings. The President instructed that the working groups be sent to the regions to promote opportunities for entrepreneurial development and create a list of land plots and buildings which would be put up for auction in September this year.
The participants also considered the issues related to tax and customs benefits and preferences. Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the high-ranking officials to ensure that each petition submitted to the Task Force be addressed.
