Next protocol on Kyrgyz-Tajik border signed

As was reported, the talks were held in a friendly atmosphere and in the spirit of mutual understanding.

On August 9, the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Tajikistan reported on the end of the topographic working group meeting of the government delegations of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on the delimitation and demarcation of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border. Following the results of 5-day talks, the parties signed another protocol, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

As was reported, the working group meeting took place in Dushanbe in the spirit of mutual understanding and friendly atmosphere. The participants agreed to hold the next meeting in Bishkek.

An armed conflict that caused over 200 injures and 20 deaths on both sides took place on the border territory of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in late April 2021. On April 30, the sides agreed on the complete ceasefire and withdrawal of troops.

At the end of June, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov paid an official visit to Tajikistan. The key issues of the negotiations included border problems.
