Tajikistan earns US$ 2.9 billion through foreign trade

Switzerland, Kazakhstan and Turkey lead in the total volume of exports.

On July 31, Chairman of the Customs Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of Tajikistan Khurshed Karimzoda held a press conference on the foreign trade indicators in the first 6 months of the year. He said Tajikistan had earned US$ 2.9 billion through foreign trade, the Khovar News Agency reported.

He said Tajikistan had traded with 111 countries. The share of the nearby states in the total volume of exports is US$ 240.1 million (about 23%), and the share of non-CIS countries is US$ 808.4 million (about 77%).

Minerals, cotton fibre, aluminium, cement, cotton yarn, vegetables and fruits account for the bulk of exports. Tajikistan exports goods most of all to Switzerland (50.9%), Kazakhstan (15.4%) and Turkey (11.1%).

The products amounting to US$ 1.87 billion were imported. These include the imports from the CIS countries (mainly in Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan) amounting to US$ 1.1 billion and from the non-CIS countries – to US$ 747.8 million.

Oil products, wheat, natural gas, vehicles, vegetable oil, sugar, fruits and vegetables account for the bulk of imports.
