On July 27, President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev paid a working visit to Akmola Region. Speaking at the meeting focused on the progress of the implementation of investment projects and the development of the region, the leader of Kazakhstan dwelt on the decision to grant city status to Kosshy village, the press office of Akorda reported.

The President emphasised that the signing of the document had caused a wide positive response across the country.

The President said further measures should be taken to elucidate the key aspects of this decision to the population, in particular it should be clarified that the decision was  aimed at making the life in Kosshy village better.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev noted that 40,000 people resided in Kosshy village according to official statistics, but actually, the population of the city was 80,000. The local people have to travel to the administrative centre of the region to meet their urgent needs, which is very inconvenient and time-consuming. In this regard, the decision to grant city status to the settlement had been taken, the President concluded.
