Turkmenistan extends validity of foreign passports of citizens abroad

As part of the decree of President Berdimuhamedov, the validity period was extended until December 31, 2022.

Within the decree of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov dated July 1, 2021, the validity of foreign passports of citizens who temporarily or permanently reside abroad was extended until December 31, 2022. It was reported by the press office of the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan.

The above category of citizens includes persons with passports with the validity period that has expired or will expire during January 1, 2020 — December 30, 2022. The citizens will have to contact the nearest embassy or consulate in order to get a mark on the extension of the validity of the document.

To do this, one must write a statement with a request in a free form. The original passport, a copy of the page of the document with personal data, as well as a photo on paper and electronic device (3×4 or 4×5 cm) must be attached to the letter.

The documents can be provided in person or by mail at the expense of the applicant. A mark on the extension of the validity of the passport represents special QR code on the 46th page of the passport. The page will also have a text «The validity of this passport has been extended __ until 31.12.2022.» The 47th page will be signed and stamped by the embassy or consulate.

The service is provided free of charge.
