Tokayev thanks Russia for complacency towards large Kazakh diaspora

Astrakhan Kazakhs see no obstacles in strengthening spiritual ties with their homeland and preserving the language and culture of their ancestors.

On July 26, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Governor of Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation Igor Babushkin. The interlocutors discussed key aspects of cooperation and issues related to the residence of the large Kazakh diaspora in Russia, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

Noting that the largest groups of ethnic Kazakhs resided in Astrakhan Region, the President expressed gratitude to the Governor for supporting Astrakhan Kazakhs in strengthening spiritual ties with their homeland and preserving the language, culture and traditions of their ancestors.

The leader of Kazakhstan expressed gratitude to the Astrakhan Region administration for providing an opportunity to perpetuate the memory of Bukey Khan, Kurmangazy, Dina Nurpeisova and glorious representatives of the Kazakh people on the land of Astrakhan.

It was emphasised that Kazakhstan and Russia were actively sewing space through promoting mutually beneficial economic relations among their regions. In this context, the Interregional Cooperation Forum serves as an important instrument.

Today, a number of the largest regions of Kazakhstan cooperate with Astrakhan Region in a wide range of sectors.
