DEİK considers Turkmenistan country of opportunities

Over the years of independence, Turkmenistan has provided Turkish contractors with a sales market worth $60 billion.

The Foreign Economic Relations Board of the Republic of Turkey (DEİK) held a webinar titled «Market and trade opportunities of Turkmenistan». The Turkish Embassy and the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry also took part in the organization of the event. It was reported by the press office of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan on July 26.

Khalil Avci, the head of the Turkey-Turkmenistan Business Council under DEİK, described the Central Asian state as a country of opportunities. According to him, since 1991, Turkmenistan has provided Turkish contractors with a sales market worth over 60 billion dollars.

He noted that Turkmen entrepreneurs have knowledge that can be shared with the rest of the world. Avci emphasized that the most promising areas of cooperation between the private sectors of the countries are agriculture and greenhouse cultivation. The businessman also stressed that representatives of the business circles of Turkmenistan and Turkey get along well due to the absence of a language barrier.

As part of the webinar, it was underlined that 80 companies export goods from Bursa to Ashgabat. In addition, 7 companies with Turkmen capital are now operating in the northwestern city of Turkey.

The event participants also expressed hope for expanding the potential of business contacts between the countries after the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Ashgabat.
