MIA of Kyrgyzstan tasked to strengthen its focus on detecting drunk drivers

Japarov instructed that preventive measures be reinforced in the territory of Issyk-Kul Region, as well as on the roads to and from this region.

On July 24, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov instructed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs strengthen controls on detection of drunk drivers. The Ministry of Internal Affairs was tasked to reinforce measures to improve road safety during the summer tourist season, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The President highlighted the need to attract additional resources to detect drunk drivers and enhance preventive measures in the territory of Issyk-Kul Region, as well as on the roads to and from this region.

As was reported, road traffic accidents, including fatal car accidents, had grown in number in the country in the past days. On July 21, 5 people died after two cars collided in Issyk-Kul Region.

The traffic police reported that one of the drivers was drunk.

On July 22, a Honda Stepwgn and a Mitsubishi Pajero collided on the Bishkek-Naryn- Torugart highway. 5 people died. The driver of the Mitsubishi Pajero was drunk.
