UN launches «Close-knit Family» program in Turkmenistan

The program offers parents effective ways to raise their children and the opportunity to learn how to deal with life problems for children.

The United Nations, with the support of the government of Turkmenistan, has launched a «Close-knit Family» training program in Ashgabat to improve family skills. The project is designed for both adults and children. It was reported by the online newspaper «Golden Age» on July 22.

The process is implemented within the framework of the program «Modernization of the social protection system through the introduction of inclusive quality social services at the local level».

The main goal of the training is to help parents effectively raise their children, show their love for them, and also deal with difficulties in this direction. The program teaches children to overcome life difficulties, have fun with their parents and understand the importance of following the rules in the family.

Families are supported by local specialists who have gone through a series of trainings from UNODC. They are piloting social services for parents with addictions, adolescents who are at risk of contact with criminal justice, and families with children who are in difficult life situations.

The program will soon start working in Turkmenabat and Mary.
