Russia hosts sneak preview of documentary about Elbasy

The authors of the documentary said it would be released formally at the Rome Film Festival.

A pre-release screening of a documentary about the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev took place in Moscow, the Khabar 24 News Agency reported on July 16.

The storyline of the film Qazaq. The Story of the Golden Man is based on an interview given by Elbasy to a famous American film director Oliver Stone, who produced the documentary. The idea of the film belongs to a Ukrainian film director Igor Lopatenok.

The main character in the film – Nursultan Nazarbayev recollects the facts from the dramatic biography of Kazakhstan since gaining independence. The hero of the story, who is a participant and eyewitness to many fateful turns, revives the moments when crucial political decisions were taken. These are the creation of the CIS, the elimination of nuclear weapons, the establishment of the Normandy format on the conflict in Ukraine and many other episodes of history.

According to the members of the documentary group, the film will be released formally at the Rome Film Festival. The documentary will be released as a television 8-part series in Kazakhstan in late July.
