Dismissal of Head of military Antonov orphanage in Kyrgyzstan requested

Law enforcement agencies have completed their investigation into the death of Yakunin.

On July 9, Ombudsman for the Rights of the Child of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhyparisa Rysbekova, together with the government agencies and non-profit organisations completed the investigation into the death of 12-year-old Igor Yakunin from the military Antonov orphanage, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to findings, the work of the management of the military Antonov orphanage was considered unsatisfactory, and it was recommended that the Ministry of Education dismiss the director of the military Antonov orphanage for the failure to prevent the death of the boy.

As was reported, the Chui Region main department of internal affairs received a message from the military Antonov orphanage on June 1 that a 6th grade student lost consciousness in the bedroom at about 21:45 and died without regaining consciousness.

According to the Ministry of Education, the children played monopoly in the bedroom. The boy got up, took a few steps and fell unconscious. The Ministry contends that the children did not fight.

However, the brother of the deceased boy, Bogdan Yakunin, told the investigator a different version. His lawyer said 12-year-old Igor Yakunin died after being beaten up by a senior student.
