Mirziyoyev and Berdimuhamedov discuss Central Asian Summit in Ashgabat

The importance of enhancing cooperation in industry, energy, agriculture, transport and other sectors was emphasised.

On June 29, Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The leader of Uzbekistan congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on his birthday and discussed the key organisational issues of a regular meeting of the leaders of the Central Asian countries, which would be held in Ashgabat this year. The parties underscored the importance of taking further joint efforts to increase bilateral trade and enhancing cooperation in industry, energy, agriculture, transport and other sectors, the press office of the leader of Uzbekistan reported.

The interlocutors stressed with satisfaction that regular and fruitful high-level meetings contributed to strengthening bilateral fraternal relations, good neighbourliness and strategic cooperation. They also noted the important role of the Intergovernmental Commission in promoting new projects of mutually beneficial partnerships.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the key issues on the international agenda. They dwelt on the current military and political situation in Afghanistan, particularly in its northern border areas.
