Kazakhstan supports Turkmenistan’s political initiatives

Tokayev will take part in the 6th Caspian Summit, which will be held in Ashgabat in a few months.

On June 29, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev had a telephone conversation with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The parties exchanged views on the key aspects and promising areas of strategic bilateral cooperation, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

It was confirmed that the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan model of relations stood on a solid monolith of friendship, good neighbourliness and multifaceted partnerships. The Turkmen leader invited his Kazakh counterpart to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan this year that would enrich the framework of cooperation with new deltas. This visit is expected to result in signing a number of important agreements.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev accepted the invitation and informed his interlocutor of his intention to take part in the 6th Caspian Summit, which would be held in Ashgabat in a few months.

The parties also discussed the tools for intensifying zonal cooperation and ensuring stability and security in the region. In this aspect, Tokayev expressed his support to the initiative of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to host a Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Turkmenistan.

Taking this opportunity, the President of Kazakhstan warmly congratulated his Turkmen counterpart on his birthday and wished him good health and every success in his state activities.
