President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov directed to create a fund for new, most effective COVID-19 vaccines.
On June 27, at a meeting with the heads of the extraordinary commission to combat the spread of diseases president of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on the purchase of 1.5 million doses of the Chinese coronavirus vaccine «Sinopharm», as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».
The document authorizes the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry to conclude the corresponding contract with China National Biotec Group Company Limited. The draft resolution on the purchase of a more effective vaccine was initially presented by the head of the ministry Nurmuhammet Amannepesov.
Berdimuhamedov said that the Turkmen authorities will do everything in their power to protect the health of citizens. He also directed to create a fund for more effective doses of vaccines and to strengthen the material and technical base of medical institutions.
It must be added that on June 18, at an extraordinary meeting of the relevant commission, the head of the state gave instructions on strengthening the fight against coronavirus. A large consignment of the Chinese vaccine CoronaVac was delivered to Turkmenistan in May.
