Ministry of Health of Tajikistan denies rumours of coronavirus outbreak

Press Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection Emomali Mirzoyev said this information had no foundation in fact.

On June 17, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Tajikistan Emomali Mirzoev commented on rumours of an outbreak of coronavirus infection in the country in an interview with the Khovar State News Agency. He said this information was not consistent with the facts.

In recent days, there have been messages about a rise in coronavirus cases on the territory of the Republic on social networks. Mirzoyev stressed that these rumours had no foundation in fact.

He reminded that an outbreak of pneumonia was recorded each year as a result of a sharp rise in temperature during the summer months. The Press Secretary added that citizens of Tajikistan began to eat more ice cream and drink cold drinks, which led to the above disease. Many people in the country have not yet fully recovered from last year’s coronavirus infection.

The representative of the Ministry emphasised that the medical and sanitary services sent up to 10 citizens with symptoms of fever, cough, loss of taste and fatigue to be tested for coronavirus infection, and their tests had negative results.
