Ashgabat and Dushanbe discuss meeting of intergovernmental commission

The focus was made on cooperation in industry, energy, transport and communications, agriculture and water management.

Representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan held online talks on June 17. The parties discussed preparations for the 10th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on partnership in trade, economy, science and technology, as reported by the press office of the Turkmen state agency.

The delegation of Turkmenistan was led by the head of the Ministry of Finance and Economy Muhammetgeldy Serdarov, and Dushanbe was presented by the head of the Ministry of Energy Juma Daler Shofakir.The officials drew attention to the importance of expanding ties in the industrial, energy, transport, and agricultural areas. Civil servants also noted the need to build up relations in water management. The emphasis was placed on the prospects for further cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry of the countries.

The Tajik side invited representatives of the Turkmen delegation to visit Dushanbe to participate in a meeting of the relevant intergovernmental commission, which is scheduled for June 28-29. Serdarov asked foreign officials to send the draft protocol to the Mejlis through diplomatic channels.
